TB2K Chat Package - mIRC and scripts, pre-configured for TB2K's Chat Server
As a service to the TB community, one of the TB staffers has created a chat package. This package is designed to be very easy to set up (for the most part it's already set up!) and use, even if you're not familiar with IRC clients.
The package contains mIRC, the most popular Windows IRC client in the world, and a few beginner-friendly scripts.
This package can be downloaded here: TB2K Chat Package
It is a self-extracting, self-installing EXE file, 1.57 MB in size, and should run on all versions of Windows (9x/ME/NT/2000/XP). IMPORTANT: You MUST read and abide by the terms of the licenses for the software contained in this package.
Here's how you download and install it:
1. Click the link above. When asked, pick "save to disk." Choose a temporary location to store the EXE.
2. When it's finished downloading, run the EXE. This will start DownInstall, the software installer utility.
3. Step through the prompts. You should not need to make any changes to any settings, etc. Here's how you use it:
1. Click your Start button, then click Programs, then open up TB2K Chat and click mIRC (TimeBomb chat).
2. mIRC will immediately want to ask you a few things. Provide a name or pseudonym in the Name box, your nickname in the Nickname box, and your alternate nickname in the Alternative box.
3. Click "Connect to IRC server" - mIRC will connect to the server and automagically join the #TB2K chat channel.
4. If you get an "unable to resolve server" or similar error message after step 3, change the server from "irc.timebomb2000.com" to the IP address entry by clicking that arrow to the right of "irc.timebomb2000.com" and then clicking the IP entry on the list that pops up. The repeat step 3.
In case you must remove it, there's a deinstall link in Start menu>>Programs>>TB2K Chat. Or, open Control Panel and launch the Add/Remove Programs applet and find the TB2K entry, and then click remove.
The TB2K Chat Package uses the DownInstall installation system, developed by Electronic Fantasy World.
